January might be one of our favourite months for landscape photography in North-Western England. Icy blues meet white-cold sun, mists and sunbeams weave translucent fabrics in the air, to be blown away into crystal clear skies.
January offers a beauty found in skeletal nature, frosty fields and silhouettes of trees with their bare branches creating the most intricate designs, more dramatic, more mysterious than when adorned with leaves.
January shows the bare backbone of Bowland and Pendle in frozen earth, bark, frost and livestock, with human settlement a beacon in the distance.
